European coffee growers, and horse breeders, the Chiriqui province borders with Costa Rica and contains Panama's highest peak at 3,475 meters (11,340 ft), the Barú volcano. From this beautiful peak white water rivers carve their way through some of the most pristine and beautiful cloud forests in the country. With its own spectrum of climates and geography, Chiriqui hosts a grand variety of birds including the magnificent Quetzal, Blue-Crowned Motmot, and the Flame-Colored Tanager. Encompassing a region of steep hills, narrow passes, and picturesque valleys, blanketed by the rich and fertile volcanic ash , Chiriqui is a land of fruitful and delicious abundance providing many rewards for the visitor to farms and forest alike- not the least of which includes a rare highlands climate of cool breezes and cover-up nights. |
