Isla Solarte is located about 1 mile from Bocas Town, and 9 miles from the mainland. It can be reached by boat only. Solarte is one of the smaller inhabited island of the archipelago of Bocas del toro, 3 miles long by 1/2 mile wide. Most of the people on Solarte are Guaymi Indians, with a handful of recent Europeans and US expats. There is one beautiful Bed and Breakfast on Solarte, Solarte del Caribe Inn, located within a 500-acre retirement planned-community. The prettiest
beaches of Solarte are located at Diego Point and Hospital Point, the
closest area of Solarte from the Bocas town. Both these areas offer
some of the best snokeling in the whole area. A couple of miles away
from Solarte Village, you will find Isla Solarte Biological Reserve,
a 200-acre of privately preserved land, going from the Almirante Lagune
side all the way to Bahia Honda, which faces the Island
of Bastimentos. Lodging
