Panama is the one
nation that is truly the crossroads of the seas. In Panama, you can
go deep-sea fishing for giant black marlin in the Pacific before breakfast.
Fish in the Caribbean before dinner. And in between, land a freshwater
bass in one of Panama's lakes. All in the same day. The word "Panama",
comes from a word meaning "place of many fish", and a place of many
fish it is! More than fifty world fishing records have been caught in
Panama waters to prove it. In Piņas Bay, new records, keep being set
and broken so fast it is hard keeping up!
Azuero
Peninsula
The rich blue waters of the Pacific are like magnets to anglers from
all over the world, who find all the equipment and facilities they need
to pursue their passion, be it blue marlin, black marlin, yellowfin
tuna, dog-toothed snapper, bonito, whale shark, killer whale, skipjack
or sailfish. Hard-striking tiger shark is found in the Pacific waters
west of the Azuero Peninsula.
Bocas
del Toro
Robalo (or snook as it's known in the States) and tarpon are major attractions
in the Caribbean waters of the Bocas del Toro region. Robalo is a spirited
fighter that once landed makes for sweet, white, non-fishy textured
filets. Few game fish anywhere can match the tarpon's acrobatic antics,
jumping, twisting, rolling. Because Panama's Caribbean waters are tropical,
they offer scenic coral gardens and marine landscapes, usually only
a few feet beneath the surface, to the delight of adventurers. The tropical
fish here look like flowers. Wrecks of Spanish galleons have hidden
cannons and possibly treasure amid the coral reefs. Bocas del Toro also
is a paradise for Caribbean divers.
J & J Boat Tours of Bocas - Based in Bocas del Toro, offers fishing
tours utilizing any one of their three fishing boats: Morning Star (40
ft.); Pisces (37ft.); Escorpio (29ft.).
Fish the untouched waters of the Bocas Islands for wahoo, yellow and
black fin tuna, grouper, snapper, king fish, and many more.
Central Panama
Lake Gatun

- popular for freshwater fishing enthusiast.
Pearl Islands
The Pearl Islands on the Pacific are popular for their rocky reefs where
fish feed and divers explore..

Darien
Tropic Star Fishing

at the edge of the Darien Jungle on the Pacific coast of Panama. The
Lodge is situated 150 miles south of Panama City, or 35 miles from the
Colombian border. It can only be reached by boat or plane, since there
are no roads within a hundred miles. Spacious cabins and rooms are fully
carpeted and air-conditioned, with a beautiful view of Pinas Bay. In
the waters around the Lodge, you can catch dolphin, rainbow runner,
snapper, tuna, grouper, amberjack, roosterfish, and mackerel. In the

striped marlin, as well as sailfish, are normally "right outside our
front door", making this a truly unique location. A variety of fishing
packages are available These usually average three to five days of fishing
plus transportation to and from your hotel.
